Jets ‘anticipate’ Haason Reddick will be ready for debut vs. Patriots

Haason Reddick was in a Jets uniform for the first time Wednesday.

Now, we’ll see if he is wearing one Sunday in New England.

The Jets did not have a full practice on Wednesday because they have so many injuries, but the Jets got to see Reddick go through positional drills and a walk-through.

He will have a full-speed practice on Thursday and the Jets will see if he is in good enough shape after his prolonged holdout to play Sunday against the Patriots.

“I would anticipate he plays,” Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “He’s an experienced player. He played in a similar defense to ours as far as the schematic stuff that he’s got to get caught up on. I don’t think that’s going to be a huge struggle for him. Now, it’s just seeing where he’s at physically.”

Reddick agreed to end his holdout on Sunday and reported to work on Monday.

He has already missed seven games.

Ulbrich said his conversations with Reddick have been “fantastic.”

“When he came in here, I tried to alleviate right away any sense of like anybody would be looking at you sideways,” Ulbrich said. “The defense embraced him. The team embraced him. Excited to get him integrated into what we do. He’s excited to get started. It’s an exciting time for all of us.”

Ulbrich said the Jets will see where Reddick is at over the next few days before making a decision on Sunday.

“If he’s ready, we’re going to roll,” Ulbrich said. “Obviously, we need him. He’s a huge part of the success that we will have on defense. Everything he’s said to me is he’s been conditioning, he’s been working and not just conditioning. He’s been doing football stuff. I’m excited to see where he’s at.”

QB Aaron Rodgers had a new injury on the injury report on Wednesday.

He now has a hamstring injury in addition to the knee injury he’s been dealing with.

He is no longer listed as having an ankle injury.

Rodgers downplayed the injuries.

Rodgers said he does not think the injuries are affecting his throws.

“I feel good on game days,” Rodgers said. “The ankle responded really well. I just have some swelling in my knee from time to time. But I don’t think it’s going to be an issue.”

The Jets have a long list of injuries.

The Jets only had a walk-through on Wednesday, partly because of how banged up they are.

It looks like they will have their starting cornerbacks back but may be down their starting safeties and they have injuries at guard piling up.

The following players did not practice: S Tony Adams (hamstring), S Ashtyn Davis (concussion), DT Leki Fotu (knee), WR Allen Lazard (chest) and RG Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle).

The following players were limited: CB Michael Carter II (back), DE Will McDonald (shoulder), RT Morgan Moses (knee), Rodgers (knee, hamstring), LT Tyron Smith (rest day) and LB Quincy Williams (neck).

CB D.J. Reed practiced fully after missing last week’s game with a groin injury.

The Jets placed OL Xavier Newman on injured reserve after his scary neck injury in Sunday’s loss. The team signed safety Jalen Mills to the active roster.

They opened the 21-day practice window on TE Kenny Yeboah to come off IR.

They signed OL Alec Lindstrom to the practice squad.
