It’s not getting any better for the Jaguars.
Buffalo struck quickly and hasn’t let up as it leads Jacksonville 34-3 at halftime on “Monday Night Football.” The Bills are poised to end a two-game losing streak to the Jaguars. It’s the first time since 2010-11 that Jacksonville has played back-to-back seasons in the NFL’s premier time slot.
They’re going to need some help if they want to shrug off the embarrassment of what fans have seen in the opening half. Buffalo scored touchdowns on all four of its first-half drives as Josh Allen diced up Ryan Nielsen’s defense with ruthless efficiency. Allen has thrown four touchdowns and passed for 247 yards (22 of 28). Trevor Lawrence and the offense continue to languish. He was picked off by Damar Hamlin trying to string together a late drive in the second half. Allen turned that into Khalil Shakir for a 27-3 cushion and added his fourth score with a 16-yarder to Ty Johnson with 24 seconds to play.
The pick by Hamlin was an emotional moment. He suffered cardiac arrest during a Monday night game on Jan. 2, 2023, collapsing and being resuscitated on the field. It was Hamlin’s first NFL interception.
The Bills marched right down the field on Jacksonville to start, with James Cook polishing off the opening drive with a 6-yard touchdown. Predictably, the Jaguars followed by going three and out. By the time the Jaguars got the ball back again, the Bills had added another score on a 6-yard throw from Josh Allen to Dalton Kincaid, who made an excellent grab falling down to put Buffalo up 13-0. The Jaguars made it into the red zone after that but stalled out and had to settle for a 41-yard field goal by Cam Little.
