Knicks dodged the Joel Embiid hell 76ers now find themselves in

PHILADELPHIA — You can still debate, with compelling arguments on the sides of wise and ill-advised, about the trades for OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns.

But there’s nothing left to ponder about the trade that didn’t happen with the Sixers. The Knicks dodged a major bullet with the habitually injured, habitually unavailable and habitually out of shape Joel Embiid.

You might recall just a little over a year ago when a Philadelphia Inquirer report surfaced of the Knicks prepping a trade offer for Embiid. The rumor followed years of connecting Leon Rose, a longtime agent, to his former client.

As The Post reported before last season, the three star targets the Knicks were monitoring were Embiid, Donovan Mitchell and Towns. At the time, Embiid, who was coming off his MVP award, was considered the best of the bunch. By far. Now he’s just the biggest reason the Sixers are a disaster.
