HONOLULU — A fountain of lava was spewing from a Hawaii volcano Tuesday within the newest episode of an eruption that has paused and resumed.
Fountains from a vent of the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii’s Massive Island grew to greater than 250 toes (76.2 meters) excessive Monday night time, in response to the most recent standing report from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
On Tuesday morning, a webcam confirmed vigorous streams of crimson lava.
The eruption started Dec. 23 in a crater on the summit of Kilauea, one of many world’s most lively volcanoes.
This marks the eruption’s eighth episode. Small, sporadic spatter fountains started Sunday, which grew extra intense, the observatory stated. The fountains grew from 50 toes (15.24 meters) excessive to 250 toes (76.2 meters) excessive in an hour on Monday night time.
The eruption is going on inside a closed space of Hawaii Volcanoes Nationwide Park with out posing a risk to houses or infrastructure.
