Baseball Corridor of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer paid tribute to Dauer.

Dauer homered to open the scoring in Recreation 7 of the 1979 World Collection between the Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates. Baltimore in the end suffered a 4-3 sequence defeat, however the Orioles returned to the World Collection in 1983 and defeated the Philadelphia Phillies.
