Andy Reid got into the Christmas spirit.
The Chiefs coach made a postgame outfit change, swapping his sideline attire for a Santa Claus outfit, to deliver the good news to his Chiefs players after their 29-10 win over the Steelers clinched the AFC title and a first-round bye.
“Merry Christmas! Proud of you, dudes. Proud of you,” he said. “For the present, you get home field advantage.”
Reid’s entrance was enough to steal the thunder from stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, who riled everyone up by showing off their custom Pere Noel-inspired sideline jackets — gifts from Netflix for their performances in the victory.
The day was made much more special for Kelce, who gave the Acrisure Stadium crowd an unwanted gift with the 1,000th reception of his career, adding his 77th touchdown with the Chiefs to pass legend Tony Gonzalez for the most receiving scores in franchise history.
Kelce dunked the ball through the uprights — an ode to Gonzalez’s signature TD celebration — and earned an unsportsmanlike penalty for his troubles.
Mahomes was in the giving mood as he connected with his receivers for 320 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
He threw a little something in there for his wife, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Brittany Mahomes, as well.
“I told my wife, my pregnant wife, I was gonna get her the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby,” he said on the Netflix broadcast. “So we got the one seed.”
Brittany announced over the summer she is pregnant with a baby girl.
The new daughter will join a growing brood that already includes daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 2.
