Bob Love, Chicago Bulls All-Star, Dies at 81

A beginning quarterback on the traditionally Black Morehouse Excessive Faculty in Bastrop, Love went to Southern College, in Baton Rouge, La., to play soccer till the basketball coach, A.W. Mumford, observed him taking part in pickup. Love averaged 30.6 factors and 18.2 rebounds as a senior, ending as Southern’s all-time chief in each classes.

Love was lively with the Stuttering Basis of America and maintained occasional contact with Hamilton Burleigh, who as soon as attended a dinner at which Love was receiving an award. His speech that evening was lower than his fluid finest.

“Right here’s the deal on stuttering — there’s no treatment, it’s nearly managing it,” she stated. “So I went again to speak to him after the speech and stated, ‘We are able to all the time do a refresher.’ ”
