JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Almost two weeks after declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, Carson Beck has changed his mind and is entering the NCAA transfer portal instead, according to ON3’s Pete Nakos.
Initial reports are linking Beck with the Miami Hurricanes who is losing their current starting quarterback, Cam Ward, a projected top draft pick.
Beck is recovering from surgery on his right elbow to repair his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), which he had on Dec. 23. He is expected to make a full recovery with throwing to begin this spring. He was injured on the last play of the first half of the SEC Championship win against Texas and missed the Bulldogs College Football Playoff quarterfinal loss to Notre Dame.
Beck is now one of the top prospects in the transfer portal who will certainly be one of the highest paid transfers. The two-time national champion started this season as one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, but his performance this season changed that outlook. He was a projected first-round draft pick, but Beck threw twice as many interceptions this season (12) compared to last season (6). This season he completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns. In his first year starting for the Bulldogs, Beck completed 72% of his passes for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns.
