Week 6: beat Ribault, 52-12. This week: at Madison County (4-2), postponed due to hurricane.
Glance: The Vikings are cruising. They’re fresh off a rout of rival Ribault in the Northwest Classic and are still in waiting mode on their clash against Madison County. TJ Cole and Co. are rolling.
2. (2) Nease (5-0, Class 6A)
Last week: Off. This week: vs. Bartram Trail (3-3), postponed to Monday due to hurricane.
Glance: The Panthers will play a little bit later due to the storm. Their clash against county rival Bartram is now on Monday night. Nease has won back-to-back games in OT against St. Augustine and Buchholz.
3. (3) Bradford (6-0, Class 2A)
Last week: beat Palatka, 41-0. This week: at Newberry (4-2), 7:30 p.m.
Glance: The Tornadoes have a case as the area’s top team. Their schedule has been tough and they’ve locked down every team that they’ve faced.
4. (4) St. Augustine (4-1, Class 6A)
Last week: Off. This week: vs. Clay (2-4), postponed by hurricane.
Glance: The Yellow Jackets beat Columbia during the Hurricane Helene week and then had a bye last week. Their district game against Clay is up next.,
5. (5) Bolles (5-1, Class 2A)
Last week: beat Columbia, 42-17. This week: vs. Jackson (3-3), Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.
Glance: The Bulldogs have just three games left in the regular season and likely only one legitimate challenge (Riverside). Bolles needs to stay healthy and continue to tighten up on defense as it prepares for a playoff run.
6. (6) Mandarin (5-2, Class 6A)
Last week: beat Rockledge, 24-7. Monday night: beat First Coast, 27-6. This week: at Fletcher (4-3), 6:30 p.m., postponed by hurricane.
Glance: The Mustangs aren’t the high-flying team that they were when healthy but they’re playing tough, defensive football now and getting it done.
7. (7) Oakleaf (4-2, Class 6A)
Last week: Off. This week: at First Coast (3-2), 6:30 p.m., postponed by hurricane.
Glance: The Knights have two close losses to high quality teams (Bolles, Hawthorne). They’ll have to make up the game against First Coast but Oakleaf has a tough finishing stretch outside of that (White, Mandarin, Tocoi Creek).
8. (10) Ponte Vedra (4-2, Class 5A)
Last week: beat Leesburg, 21-18. This week: vs. Middleburg (6-0), postponed by hurricane.
Glance: The Sharks stay in the Super 10 after a gritty win over a tough Leesburg team. They’ve got losses to Fleming Island and Nease but have quality Ws over Beachside and Bartram Trail.
9. (9) Beachside (5-1, Class 5A)
Last week: beat Tocoi Creek, 29-26. This week: at Fleming Island (3-3), postponed by hurricane.
Glance: The Barracudas landed one of the biggest wins in their short history last week when they toppled the rival Toros for the first time. They’re a program on the rise and get three tough opponents (Fleming Island, Middleburg and Nease) over their final four games.
10. (NR) Creekside (3-3, Class 7A)
Last week: beat Fleming Island, 48-45. This week: at Atlantic Coast (3-3), postponed by hurricane.
Glance: The Knights started out in our Super 10 and then dropped like a rock after three straight losses. But they are on a tear, winners of three straight against quality competition (Winter Park, Bartram Trail, Fleming Island). Their offense is surging.
