Dodgers sending potential Yankees trade target Gavin Lux to Reds

The Yankees will have to look elsewhere to sure up their infield.

The Reds agreed to a trade with the Dodgers to acquire infielder Gavin Lux, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed on Monday.

Cincinnati is sending a Competitive Balance Round A pick (around No. 37) and outfield prospect Mike Sirota to Los Angeles in exchange, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passon

The 27-year-old Lux, who can play several positions, was linked to the Yankees in multiple reports in recent weeks – but the Dodgers opted to ship him to the Reds.

Cincinnati can use him in a super-utility role.

Los Angeles decided to get rid of Lux after signing Hyeseong Kim earlier this month.

The Yankees pivoting to try to deal for Padres infielder Luis Arraez also appears unlikely as the former batting champion, for now, isn’t seen as a fit in New York, according to Heyman.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has had a strong offseason since losing out on Juan Soto to the Mets, bringing in former All-Stars in starter Max Fried, reliever Devon Willians and first baseman Cody Bellinger.

But the team still has question marks in the infield – especially at third and second base, one of which could be manned by Jazz Chisholm Jr.

That would leave DJ LeMahieu or Oswaldo Caberea to play the other after the Yankees did not bring back Gleyber Torres, who signed with Tigers.

Lux could have been a nice fit.

He hit .251 with a .703 OPS last season and helped the Dodgers beat the Yankees in the World Series.
