Game Time or Snack Time Humus

Hummus is a creamy and savory spread or dip that is made from Chickpeas also known as Garbanzo Beans. While Hummus is a staple in Middle Eastern countries, it’s growing popularity has catapulted the dish from the dinner table to a tailgate superstar.

Is Hummus healthy? Well, it’s high in fiber and it’s a plant-based protein. Garbanzo beans are a good source of fiber and they may help control blood sugar levels and help with weight management.

Is there a difference between Chickpeas or Garbanzo Beans? No, those are just two of the many names for these types of pulses. Pulses are the seeds of legume plants.

Older recipes are time consuming, but in this Nunnsense simplified recipe you can be ready for snack time or game time in about 30 minutes.

The secret to a creamy, silky-smooth hummus from a can is boiling the beans in water for about twenty minutes before sending them for a spin in your favorite food processor.

The only ingredient you may not have on hand is Tahini. What is Tahini? Basically, it is like peanut butter, except it is made with sesame seeds. By the way, if you do not like or can not eat sesame seeds, you can substitute other nut or seed-based spreads like almond or sunflower butter.

Grab your pitas, falafels, chips and veggie trays because in around 30 minutes and some Nunnsense, you’re going to have a tailgate superstar.
