Drew Lock is getting another chance.
After a devastating 27-20 week 13 loss against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, the New York Giants’ second-string quarterback will start a second consecutive game on Sunday, Dec. 8 when Big Blue returns to MetLife Stadium for a battle with the New Orleans Saints.
“Drew’s going to take all the reps with the ones today. He’ll be the quarterback this week,” head coach Brian Daboll said in a press conference. “If Tommy (Devito) is well enough to be second quarterback, he will be. If not, it’ll be Tim (Boyle).”
Coming into the matchup, Daboll’s 2-10 Giants have dropped seven games in a row. The last time the team won was when they beat the Seahawks on Oct. 6. In their 100 seasons in the league, this team may end up having one of the worst records in the franchise’s history. The only season that’s guaranteed to have had fewer wins was 1966’s 1-12-1 campaign.
On the Saints’ end, Derek Carr and co. are 4-8. In their most recent matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, the team blew a 6-0 lead going into halftime and ended up losing 21-14. The week before, they wrecked the Cleveland Browns 35-14 behind Taysom Hill’s three rushing touchdowns. Unfortunately, Hill aka “the Human Swiss Army Knife” went down with a knee injury in their week 13 loss against the Rams and is out for the season.
