Ian Rapoport ribs Adam Schefter over ESPNer’s revelation he broke a story after sex

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was asked where is the craziest place he’s broken a story, and he couldn’t help but reference Adam Schefter’s shocking sex story.

The ESPN NFL insider made waves last week when he said on Kevin Clark’s “This is Football” podcast that the “weirdest place” he’s broken a news story was after having sex with a woman in Denver — where he was reporting on the Broncos at the time.

Rapoport had a much different answer when he was asked a similar question during a recent Q&A on r/NFL on Reddit.

“Not going to say bedroom,” Rapoport responded. “I actually love this, it’s one of the favorite things about my job because news comes from everywhere at all times. Chair lift, car wash, Kentucky Derby, club, shower, pool, vacation.

“When Ryan Ramczyk got his contract extension, I was snorkeling in Saint Thomas. As long as you have Internet, you can break news from anywhere. If you don’t answer the phone, they expect me to answer every time. They’re like, ‘Why did you not answer?’”

Rapoport and the NFL posted the Q&A on their respective Instagram pages.

Snorkeling is not quite as intriguing as Schefter’s shocking revelation last Wednesday.

“I can remember being in Denver one time,” Schefter said with a smirk. “I was um … How do I say this? I had just spent time with this woman for the first time and got a text that [former Broncos cornerback] Dale Carter was being suspended for eight games for substance abuse [in 2000].

“So, as I continued to lay there, confirm it, and got the job done Kevin — in every which way.”

Schefter later clarified on X that he technically broke the news “after” having sex with the woman.

Later that day, Schefter told WEEI his wife, Sharri Maio, texted him about his remarks and that she “didn’t appreciate the story” he shared.

“I said what I said, right?” he said, adding that he was “completely shocked” his story took off.

Things have since blown over.

“She’s now talking to me,” Schefter told WEEI a week later. “So if they want to turn that into another headline, that’s great.”

Schefter and his wife married in 2007, and they share a daughter, Dylan, 15. Maio has a son, Devon, from a previous relationship.
