Jaguars complete interviews with four head coaching candidates

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars were booked and busy on Saturday.

The team completed three more interviews for the vacant head coaching position after starting the interview process Friday night by interviewing Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Here is a list of the candidates who have completed interviews with the team, along with a bio and their career highlights:

Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo

Spagnuolo has been the Chiefs defensive coordinator since 2019. He has an extensive coaching resume. He spent time as the defensive coordinator for the Giants (2007-2008, 2015-2017), Saints (2012), and the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-present).

The Chiefs rank fourth in points and ninth in yards this season. Overall they rank fourth in total defense.

He also has previous experience as a head coach, filling the position for the St. Louis Rams (2009-2011) and the Giants as interim head coach in 2017.

Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn

Glenn has been the Lions defensive coordinator since 2021.

This season, Detroit’s defense ranks seventh in points and 20th in total yards. Overall they rank seventh in total defense.

Glenn played cornerback in the league for 15 seasons, including a brief stop as a Jags player in 2007.

Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson

Johnson is the unanimous top candidate in this coaching cycle. He has been the Lions offensive coordinator since 2022.

This season, the Lions have scored the most points in the league and totaled the second-most yards. They also have the best overall offense in the NFL.

Johnson started his coaching career working up the ranks with the Dolphins, starting as an offensive assistant in 2012, and in his last season (2018) he was the wide receivers coach.

Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham

Graham is the latest candidate to interview for the head coaching vacancy. The Raiders defensive coordinator has worked in Las Vegas since 2022. This is Graham’s third defensive coordinator job. He previously was the assistant head coach and DC for the Giants in 2020-2021. Graham was also the defensive coordinator for the Dolphins in 2019.

The Raiders defense ranks 25th in points and 15th in total yards. Overall they rank 26th in the league.

Graham began his coaching career with the Patriots from 2009-2015 serving as a defensive assistant (2010), linebackers coach (2011 and 2014-2015), and defensive line coach (2012-2013). He also was the Giants defensive line coach (2016-2017) and the Packers linebackers coach and run-game coordinator in 2018.
