JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The head coach search is underway in Jacksonville.
A day after the Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson following a disappointing season, the team has requested to interview eight high-profile candidates, the team announced Tuesday.

The Jaguars said they have requested to interview Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, and former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, citing sources, said the Jaguars are also set to interview Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.
The New England Patriots and Chicago Bears have also requested interviews with Johnson. Glenn is also expected to interview with the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints.
Rapoport said the interviews for Johnson and Glenn would be virtual between Thursday and Saturday because the Lions have a bye week before their first playoff game.
Liam Coen, Buccaneers offensive coordinator
He made his return to the NFL this year and has not missed a beat. Coen helped turn Baker Mayfield from a reclamation project into a bona fide star. The 38-year-old coach is viewed as a rising offensive mind in the NFL.
Aaron Glenn, Lions defensive coordinator
A well-liked former NFL player who actually played one season with the Jaguars (2007). He’s been the DC in Detroit since 2021 and is another integral part of the turnaround in the Motor City.
Ben Johnson, Lions offensive coordinator
Johnson has been the hot name each of the last two years in the coaching circle. He opted out of going for a head coaching job last year, instead going back to Detroit to try and help it reach the Super Bowl. If you’ve followed Jaguars social media this season, Johnson is the name fans seem to want here. Would he leave an ideal situation in Detroit for a quasi-rebuild here? If Jacksonville hired Johnson, would he bring along ex-Jaguars star Mark Brunell, the current quarterbacks coach in Detroit?
Joe Brady, Bills offensive coordinator
He had a little bit of buzz when he was LSU’s passing game coordinator in 2019 during Joe Burrow’s 15-0 season. He went to Carolina and vanished but has done very well in his role with the Bills after being named the permanent offensive coordinator last January.
