LeBron James apparently had no thought the Lakers had been getting ready to commerce his longtime teammate and co-star, Anthony Davis.
James was “taken off guard” by the blockbuster commerce sending Davis to the Mavericks for celebrity Luka Doncic, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin mentioned throughout a tv spot Sunday morning.
McMenamin reported early Sunday morning shortly after the information of the commerce broke that James was out to dinner with household and buddies in New York following the Lakers’ Saturday evening win over the Knicks at Madison Sq. Backyard when he came upon in regards to the deal from ESPN’s Shams Charania, who first reported the information.
“James was shocked by the information, is processing it and had no thought it was within the works,” McMenamin wrote on X.
As soon as the commerce was agreed to, Lakers common supervisor Rob Pelinka first arrange a joint name with Davis and head coach JJ Redick, then he referred to as Davis’ and James’ agent, Wealthy Paul. Pelinka then referred to as James, per McMenamin.
Whereas James has but to publicly tackle the commerce instantly, he did reply on X to a report that mentioned he had “grown pissed off” with Davis.
“You a fkn lie!!! 🤥🤡,” James wrote.
Together with Doncic, the Lakers acquired Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris whereas the Mavericks obtained Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round choose. The Jazz landed Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2025 Clippers second-rounder and a 2025 Mavericks second-rounder within the three-team deal.
The Lakers acquired Davis in the summertime of 2019, and he and James led the Lakers to an NBA championship within the 2020 COVID bubble.
