News4JAX Varsity 4 Super 6 boys soccer rankings

Rank, school, record, classification

1. (1) Mandarin (13-0-2, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Bartram Trail, Beachside, Chiles, Englewood, First Coast, Nease, Stanton, Wolfson (twice).

Notable: The Mustangs went wire to wire again in the Super 6, running it from start to finish. They’ll open District 2-6A play next Tuesday. The big challenge for Mandarin this year is putting its recent playoff struggles to the side and shining come February. Daniel Moreno, Robert Calazans and Emir Trto have Mandarin perfect entering next week’s district tournaments.

2. (2) Creekside (13-2-3, Class 7A)

Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Englewood, Nease, Ponte Vedra, Sandalwood, St. Joseph

Notable: The Knights lost to Beachside (3-2) and then opened the District 1-7A tournament with a 1-0 win over Atlantic Coast. Not a whole lot of concern for the Knights. Eric Camero leads Creekside in goal scoring with 11.

3. (4) Fleming Island (10-1-6, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Buchholz, Fletcher, Nease.

Notable: The Golden Eagles have just a 3-1 loss to Ponte Vedra on their resume. They beat Bolles since our last Super 6 and enter the District 3-5A tournament as the favorite. They open with Ridgeview before a potential final against Clay or Columbia. Daniel Vizcarrondo, Ryker Dailey and Ethan Medlock have combined to score 38 goals.

4. (3) Bartram Trail (9-3-5, Class 6A)

Quality wins: Nease, Ocoee, Spruce Creek, Tocoi Creek.

Notable: The Bears had a 3-2 loss to a quality West Orange since our last Super 6 as they prepare for the district tournament. They’ve got Tocoi Creek in the 3-6A semis on Tuesday, with the winner moving on to face Nease or Matanzas.

5. (5) Ponte Vedra (12-2, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Fleming Island, Nease, Oakleaf, Tocoi Creek.

Notable: The Sharks beat Fletcher 1-0 in their lone match since our last Super 6. They’ve won five straight entering the District 4-5A tournament. They’re likely headed for a collision with Beachside in the final on Jan. 30.

6. (6) Beachside (11-3-2, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Bolles, Creekside, Fletcher, St. Joseph.

Notable: The Barracudas posted a massive win since our last Super 6, beating No. 2 Creekside 3-2. The District 4-5A tournament is up next, with a likely collision against Ponte Vedra in the final on Jan. 30.
