Detroit Lions (-3.5) over SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The 49ers got smacked by the mediocre Dolphins last Sunday, and they’ll welcome a much tougher task this week on “Monday Night Football.”

Oddsmakers are having a tough time pegging this injury-riddled team — San Francisco is just 1-5 against the spread with an average margin of -8.4.

In other words, the 49ers’ disappointment is getting worse as the season carries on.

San Francisco has already lost stars in Brandon Aiyuk, Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams for the year, but secondary players like Dre Greenlaw, Isaac Guerendo, Leonard Floyd and Ji’Ayir Brown are also banged up.

The Lions, on the other hand, have been cruising aside from their Week 15 loss to the Bills.

Detroit has injuries of their own, but the latest one, the loss of running back David Montgomery may be a bit overblown — instead of sharing the back field, Jahmyr Gibbs took over last week and had a monster game with 154 total yards and a touchdown.

Betting on the NFL?

Depending on the Vikings’ result on Sunday, Monday’s game may not matter much to Detroit, but the talent difference is just too much for the Niners to handle.

This NFC Championship Game rematch won’t be anywhere close to as fun as last January’s thriller.

Last week: 1-1, Lions (W), Buccaneers (L)
Season: 5-11 (entering Sunday)
