Ribault moves up, NFEI moves into rankings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The News4JAX Super 6 girls high school basketball rankings will be published each Tuesday — except during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas — through the regular season. Records are through Jan. 27.

1. (1) Bolles (17-5, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Florida Deaf, Gainesville, Haines City, Potter’s House, Ribault (twice), Seffner Christian, Somerset Prep, Spruce Creek, Tocoi Creek

Notable: The Bulldogs have won seven in a row, including two since our last Super 6 (Beachside, 90-78 and San Jose Prep, 57-39). They close out the regular season with Nease and Mandarin on Tuesday and Wednesday. Abby Knauff (14.8 ppg), Evie Freeman (13.6 ppg), Presley Norman (13 ppg) and Terrell McCoy (11.8 ppg) are leading the Bulldogs.

2. (2) Providence (17-6, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Bolles, Creekside, Oakleaf, Hawthorne, Hilliard, Nease, Ridgeview, SLAM Academy, Somerset Academy-Canyons, Tocoi Creek, Trinity Catholic, West Port.

Notable: Two quality wins for the Stallions since our last Super 6, beating Hilliard (64-33) and Tocoi Creek (50-43). They close out the regular season on Friday against The Rock. A milestone for Janie Boyd, who scored her 1,000th career point in the win over Hilliard. She’s the second Stallions star to eclipse that milestone this month. Janai Jordan surpassed that mark on Jan. 12.

3. (3) Bishop Kenny (19-4, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Camden County, Creekside, Godby, Keswick Christian, Marietta (Ga.), Nease, Paxon, St. Petersburg, Rickards, Sparkman (Ga.), Tocoi Creek, Trinity Catholic.

Notable: Two solid wins for the Crusaders since our last Super 6, a 55-38 win over Creekside and a 63-56 win over Spruce Creek. They close out the regular season this week with Englewood and Viera. Kathleen Crawley (16 ppg) and Abby Baker (8 ppg) and Makala DesJarlais (7.4 ppg) lead Kenny.

4. (4) Potter’s House (14-4, independent)

Quality wins: DME Regional, Haines City, Lake Region, Montverde Gold, St. Thomas Aquinas

Notable: The Lions have been off since our last Super 6, but return to action Tuesday against The Rock. Alanna Tatum (13.2 ppg) and Sara Dagba (12.9 ppg) are leading the Lions.

5. (T6) Ribault (16-8, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Bishop Kenny, Eagle’s View, Gainesville, Godby, Jackson, Orange Park, Raines, Rickards, Ridgeview.

Notable: The Trojans have won five straight, including a 73-64 game over Orange Park since our last Super 6. The Trojans open the District 3-4A tournament as the heavy favorite. Trinity Berry (16.2 ppg), Terrannya Medlock (13.3 ppg) and Destiny Donaldson (12.3 ppg) lead Ribault.

6. (NR) North Florida Educational (13-11, Class 1A)

Quality wins: Creekside, DeLand, Eagle’s View, Lincoln, Ribault, Ridgeview (twice), Timber Creek, Williston.

Notable: The Eagles move in after beating previously ranked Ridgeview for the second time this season. NFEI has played a tough schedule, with just one loss to a local team (San Jose Prep).
