Stephen Olson of the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute and a member of the NAFTA negotiation workforce for the U.S. Division of Commerce says tariffs towards Mexico and Canada may very well be an “train in taking pictures your self within the foot” and that the concept of a U.S. manufacturing employment renaissance is “misguided”.
