Varsity 4 Super 6 boys basketball rankings
Rank, previous, school, record, classification
1. (1) Jackson (17-1, Class 3A)
Quality wins: Bolles, Creekside, Fleming Island, Impact Christian, Gainesville, Lake Highland Prep, Ribault, Rickards, Savannah, Tocoi Creek, University Christian, Williston.
Notable: The Tigers are cooking. They’ve won nine straight since a one-point loss to Fleming Island, which they later avenged with a 28-point romp. They’ve got a solid Ponte Vedra up next on Wednesday. Jahari Simmons (16 ppg) and David Wilson (12.5 ppg) are leading the Tigers.
2. (3) Impact Christian (11-4, Class 1A)
Quality wins: Creekside, Episcopal, Oviedo, Ponte Vedra, Mt. Bethel Christian, Nease, Potter’s House, San Jose Prep, Santa Fe Catholic.
Notable: The Lions crushed Riverside (75-15) and a quality Nease (71-37) since our last Super 6. They’ve got NFEI on Wednesday followed by tournament action against Martin County and Columbia on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Ronald Clark (15.3 ppg), Jeremiah Jones (12.3 ppg) and Chris Jackson (9.2 ppg) are leading the Lions.
3. (4) Ribault (12-4, Class 4A)
Quality wins: Bishop Snyder, Creekside, First Coast, Fletcher, Gainesville, Lake Howell, Riverside.
Notable: Two big wins since our last Super 6, with a 58-33 W over Bishop Snyder, followed by a 90-50 blowout over First Coast. They’ve got Palm Beach Lakes on Friday and Viera on Saturday to round out the week before the Gateway tournament. Jamian Jackson (15 ppg), Kaden Toure (14.4 ppg) and Kaleb McDuffie (9.9 ppg) lead the Trojans.
4. (2) Tocoi Creek (16-2, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Bishop Kenny, Colonial, Fleming Island, NSU University, Raines, Riverside.
Notable: The Toros saw a nine-game winning streak end on Tuesday night with a 61-55 loss to St. Augustine. That’s not an upset loss either. The Yellow Jackets are a quality team. They beat Bartram Trail (60-39) before that.
5. (NR) University Christian (10-8, Class 2A)
Quality wins: Baldwin (Ga.), Creekside, Fleming Island, IMG Academy Gold, Mainland, Nease, Providence, St. Petersburg, Villages Charter.
Notable: All records are not created equal. UC’s mark is highly deceiving. It has played the area’s most rugged schedule. It doesn’t have a bad loss, and it is stacking high-quality Ws. UC has three local losses (two to Jackson and another to Ponte Vedra by a point in its second game of the year). The towering duo of Augustine Ayelyine and Adalbert Allotey are the big names, but the Christians are deep. They’ve been a bubble team all year, but head coach Jody Bailey’s Christians were one agonizing shot away from the final four in 2024. They beat previous No. 5 Fleming Island 53-44 on Tuesday night.
T6. (T6) Oakleaf (13-4, Class 6A)
Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Columbia (twice), McKeel Academy, NFEI, Orange Park, St. Augustine, Trenton, Vero Beach.
Notable: The Knights went 2-1 since our last Super 6, losing to Fleming Island (69-63 in 2 OT) and beating Atlantic Coast (59-38) and Bartram Trail (63-54). Struggled with keeping Oakleaf in this week ahead of Fleming Island, but the Golden Eagles lost to Creekside and UC. Fleming has a shot to get right back in when it faces Oakleaf on Friday.
T6. (NR) St. Augustine (13-2, Class 5A)
Quality wins: Bartram Trail, Matanzas, Nease, Providence, Tocoi Creek.
Notable: Tough decision on this spot. The Yellow Jackets have played a lean schedule. But they’ve stacked two quality wins together the past week (Bartram Trail and previous No. 2 Tocoi Creek). I’ve got them in ahead of Creekside and Fleming Island.
