Why Cub Cadet is the Best UTV Brand on the Market

Why Cub Cadet is the Best UTV Brand on the Market

I first heard of Cub Cadet in the 1990’s, when visiting rich relatives who had a sprawling spread of land that was used for recreation as well as for income.

The “farm” as they called it, included fishing and recreational ponds, hunting grounds, woods for hiking and camping, an apple orchard, and many plots of various plants such as berries, grapes, and even landscaping trees.

The owners of the property often entertained clients, friends, and family. Being marketing people, I remember  that they were very keen on buying only what they considered to be the absolute best brands of equipment and products for each job function.

So, for example, they only purchased one particular brand of pick-up truck, were “sold” on only one brand of chainsaw, only relied on a certain brand of a power tools, one barbecue grill company, one fishing reel company, etc. I’m sure you know people like this.

And I’m now now same way, because no one wants to deal with products that are constantly giving you grief, breaking down, etc. It just makes sense to stick with a brand that continuously delivers.

Anyway, getting back to my story, I asked for a tour of the property, and they brought out the “Cub Cadet.” It was a utility vehicle (UTV). I remember tearing through this sprawling property on this Cub Cadet, cutting through woods, crossing streams, gunning it through fields, etc. and thinking, “This thing is awesome!”

Later I got a job there pruning apple trees for a summer. They had two UTVs but only one was a Cub Cadet. The other one was being phased out of the “farm” because the owners determined it was sub-par, and I can testify that it indeed was (It was a big name brand that I’ll not mention that made good equipment for other uses, but made a lousy UTV).

The Cub Cadet was preferred because it was smooth when going over bumps, had much more power when climbing hills, had a better hydraulic bed for carrying tools and dumping materials like, wood, hay, mulch, etc., and was overall just way better.

Needless to say, the employees fought over who got to use the Cub Cadet. As a side note, once when driving the other UTV, my chainsaw bounced out of the bed and onto the ground!

Fast forward to today, 2018… I am now writing this article as a brand ambassador for Cub Cadet! I was recently invited to their headquarters to review their latest equipment, and their newest models of UTVs absolutely blew my mind.

Check out this video where Catherine and I test them out. We wanted to keep driving them all day!

The thing that is nice about this new line of UTVs from Cub Cadet is that not only are they great for utility work around the property, but can be loaded into the back of your truck and taken anywhere for pure recreational use.

The power of their modern line of UTVs is absolutely amazing. I couldn’t believe how fast they can go! And even at top speeds, they seem to glide over huge bumps effortlessly.

My only fear, was that I would find out that the cost was going to be way to high, but the model 400 that we tested starts at less than $6K! I’m pretty sure my previous employers at the “farm” paid around that for their model in the 1990’s! But if you really want to get after it, they have models up into the 700 series, that will cost more upfront, but could pay dividends, depending on your needs.

Also, Cub Cadet has some really nice lawn machines that I endorse on this website in my article organic lawn care.

In Addition, they also make make a really nice line of snow throwers, with 3 different machines, tailored you your exact needs as a homeowner. You can get an older model on Amazon, or go see your local Cub Cadet dealer.

The bottom line, for me, is that Cub Cadet is a really cool, easy going company that prides themselves first and foremost on providing regular folks with the tools (and toys) they need to be happy.

If you don’t believe me, just type in #cubcadet into Instagram or anywhere else and see how many people people love the brand. It’s a good idea to visit the nearest Cub Cadet dealership to just take a look at all of the things they have to offer.

Who knows, you might even end up with a robot that mows your lawn!
