Yankees trade Jose Trevino to Reds for Fernando Cruz, Alex Jackson

Jose Trevino’s Yankees tenure is over.

The Yankees have traded the veteran catcher to the Reds in exchange for reliever Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported.

In Cruz, 34, the Yankees add another right-handed reliever to their bullpen in an offseason that’s seen them trade for Devin Williams and re-signed Jonathan Loaisiga.

Cruz relies primarily on his splitter and has struck out over 35 percent of the hitters he’s faced over the last two seasons with Cincinnati.

Jackson has played in 124 games in the big leagues over five seasons as a backup catcher.

The deal ends Trevino’s time in New York, which peaked in 2022 with an All-Star nod and Gold Glove.

He hit .230/.279/.361 across three seasons in The Bronx.

This is a developing story
